# Leave a shift

> Take yourself off a shift you've joined.

If you can no longer make a shift you've joined, leave it so the space is free for someone else. You can only leave a shift you're on.

  <Step title="Open Shifts">
    Tap **Shifts** in the bottom navigation bar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find your shift">
    Go to the month of the shift and scroll to it. A shift you're on shows a **Leave** button instead of **Join**.

    To find all your shifts quickly, search for your name. See [Find shifts that need team members](/shifts/find-shifts).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap Leave">
    Tap **Leave** at the bottom of the shift card. The button shows **Leaving...** while the change is saved.

<Tip>
  You can also tap the service name to open **Shift Details** and tap **Leave Shift** there.

## What happens next

* A message at the top of the screen says "You successfully left the shift!"
* Your name is removed from **Assigned** on the shift card.
* The **Leave** button changes back to **Join**, so you can rejoin if your plans change.

## Common problems

### There's no Leave button

You're not on this shift. Check you're looking at the right Sunday and service time.

### You see "Failed to leave shift"

Check your internet connection and tap **Leave** again. If it keeps happening, ask an admin to take you off the shift.
